Christmas is just a few weeks away, so now is the time to start getting your house ready. We wanted to share 15 tips to help you prepare your home for the upcoming holiday season.

  • Grand Entrance - your guest experience begins at your front door; use greenery, tasteful lights and decorations to set the stage; use DIY touches to make a great impact
  • Fresh Hues - pops of color is a great way to add style to your entry; use inexpensive fruits like green apples, tangelos or lemons to add interest everywhere from centerpieces to staircases while creating a focal point
  • Natural Touches - berries and sprigs of evergreens add festive touches
  • Holiday Touches - adding traditional seasonal touches to everyday accessories in your foyer or hallway table; glittering tinsel trees, wrapped gifts and a plant decorated with holiday glam or orchid can be the perfect touch
  • Pamper Your Guests - add a reading light, cozy throw blanket, basket with bottled water and snacks like dried fruits or sweet-and-salty pecans in cellophane bags; evergreen sachets make the room smell great and a lavender spritz on the linens to encourage sweet dreams
  • Decorate Your Plants - adding garland to your plants to jazz them up; include current magazines, plush slippers; adding pine cones to plants for the holiday season
  • Festive Feasts - when decorating the table, every detail counts; add touches like candles, sprigs of holly tucked in to napkin rings, mini poinsettias flanking a center piece or floating candles and garland wreaths
  • Place Cards - handcrafted place cards for each person at the table
  • Beautify Your Bath - add merriment to your bathroom, especially if guests will be using them; little touches like scented candles, a tiny poinsettia plant, festive carved dish used as a sink-top towel holder
  • Deck the Halls - adding a simple small table with a poinsettia or potted evergreen with silver accents to spruce up your hallway or nook with holiday cheer
  • Existing Elements with New Uses - use retro clothing to make an eye-catching tree skirt
  • Dramatic Collections - use your collection of unique glassware on your table or bookshelf in the shape of a Christmas tree
  • Christmas Card Display - use a creative way to arrange holiday cards in a simple, star-crossed red ribbon trimmed with greetings clipped in place with painted clothespins
  • Show off Holiday Plants - use decorated boxes to give your holiday plants a pop of color and noticeable display
  • Inexpensive Gifts - decorate simple, inexpensive gifts like small boxes of chocolate or holiday candy and place them around your house to be enjoyed by pop-over guests and to sprinkle the holiday spirit all over your home
  • Joyful Sounds - break out the holiday music to get everyone in the Christmas spirit; who doesn't love "Jingle Bells" or "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus"

I hope these tips are useful for your holiday season. If you have any tips that you would like to add, post them below for others to see.
